Introduction:

In March 2022, our team partnered with a UK-based online grocery retailer to expand their sales in both the UK and EU markets. The client’s goal was to boost online sales and improve their return on investment by utilizing Google Shopping Ads. With a limited marketing budget, the retailer hoped to achieve significant growth through our campaign management team’s expertise and experience.

 

Approach:
The client initially set up their own Google Shopping campaign but lacked the expertise and knowledge to manage an inventory of over 10,000 SKUs. Upon initial review of the account, we identified multiple opportunities and areas of wastage to address. The merchant center required a significant amount of cleaning up to set the account up for success. We created a custom Zivachy monitoring dashboard to track all 10,000 SKUs and quickly identify the products that were getting the most interest. We then worked with the client to integrate a profit tracker within our custom dashboard based on each product’s cost price, allowing us to see the exact profitability and return per keyword. Armed with this data and knowledge, we were able to quickly shift our advertising efforts towards the products that were driving the most profits.
By aligning the marketing data across all campaigns and focusing on achieving target return on ad spend (ROAS), we were able to consistently improve returns month after month. Additionally, we placed a strong emphasis on optimizing our best-selling products, which included updating landing pages and incorporating strategic negative keywords to narrow down to the most effective search terms for achieving the best return on investment (ROI). 

 Results:
The campaign has been a resounding success, resulting in significant revenue and profit increases for our client, and we continue to drive positive results month after month. One of the key factors contributing to this success is our use of custom dashboards to accurately blend data, allowing us to optimize the account to a level that many competitors cannot match. We work closely with each client to understand their products or services and target demographics.

Upon analysing the account, we collaborated with the client to update their Google Merchant Center by cleaning out errors and adding keywords to product titles. We then designed a custom dashboard to merge the client’s product cost data with Google Ads data, breaking down barriers that Google has for better data analysis and precise optimization decision-making. With this new and exact profit-per-keyword viewpoint, we focused on achieving target return on ad spend (ROAS) and quickly identified the most profitable products. Our dashboards also highlighted easy wins by pinpointing products landing pages with high interest but little clicks, and with a few strategic tweaks, we were able to tap into more money-generating keywords. By developing a successful landing page format, we increased conversions and better click-through rates (CTRs) and this format allowed us to make monthly improvements across the entire account.

The success of this campaign highlights the power of utilizing Google Shopping to drive product sales, as well as the effectiveness of combining key data in our custom tracking dashboards.
